RIGSAVER SGE

Rigsaver is an air shut-off valve that is mounted in the air intake system to stop the airflow from entering the cylinders and positively immobilize the engine, safeguarding personnel and equipment. It can be manually or automatically controlled, responding to a variety of fault or hazard conditions. After acquiring the RIGSAVER brand in 2012, AMOT re-engineered the original design to improve valve performance over the life of the engine and, in 2014, launched the next generation RIGSAVER 11SGE.

The Chalwyn D and D-AM automatic valves are self-contained with flow actuated overspeed shutdown. They require no external electrical or mechanical input devices. The closing force is provided by the intake air flow passing through the valve. The valve closes automatically when the engine speed exceeds a pre-set point. The valve automatically resets open soon after the engine has stopped, so the engine is ready for restarting.

The Chalwyn SVX hazardous area, flameproof series of butterfly air intake shutoff valves are ATEX approved for Zone 1, Gas Group IIB, T4 (135°C) or Zone 21 hazardous area applications. The SVX flameproof energize to open valve is designed with “fail safe” actuation. When power is applied to the solenoid, the valve opens and is held open as long as power is supplied. When power is cut off for any reason such as the detection of an engine overspeed condition or other unsafe engine operating conditions, the valve will close.
